The 2nd Meeting of the Working Group on the Implementation of the Single Species Action Plan for the Angelshark in the Mediterranean Sea (ANGELSHARK MED WG 2) will be held online on 3 December 2026.
The meeting will be conducted in English and is open to representatives of Range States, specifically the members of the Angelshark Working Group, invited experts, observers from non-Range State Parties, relevant Intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations.
This one-day meeting will review progress in implementing the Single Species Action Plan for the Angelshark (Squatina squatina) in the Mediterranean (SSAP Angelshark Med) since the Working Group's first meeting in 2025.
The meeting will:
- Present national updates on progress with key implementation activities;
- Review decisions relevant to the Angelshark taken at CMS COP15 (Brazil, March 2026);
- Discuss area-based management approaches;
- Explore the policy landscape and opportunities in the Mediterranean;
- Address other agreed activities.
The Working Group will agree on a programme of work for the coming year and formulate recommendations to strengthen and accelerate implementation of the SSAP.
National reports: Range States are requested to report on progress towards the SSAP Angelshark Med objectives:
