2026 has been designated the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. This side event will highlight the connections between pastoralists and migratory species and how improved cross-sectoral land use management can benefit both migratory species and people. Through selected case studies, this event will further examine rangeland management through the interrelated lenses of climate change, biodiversity conservation, and land degradation. By presenting practical tools and approaches, attendees can better understand what these environmental challenges look like for pastoralist communities and species living with these challenges and ask practitioners directly how to upscale successful tools & approaches.
