Partnership Agreement Between the Born Free Foundation and CMS Signed

Bonn, 31 May 2018 – In the margins of the 3rd meeting of the Sessional Committee of the CMS Scientific Council being held in Bonn this week, a signing ceremony took place marking the conclusion of a partnership agreement between the Born Free Foundation and CMS.

Signing the Agreement on behalf of the Born Free Foundation was the charity’s Head of Policy, Mark Jones.  Executive Secretary, Bradnee Chambers signed for CMS.  The Partnership Agreement helps fulfil the Secretariat’s mandate to liaise with international organizations concerned with migratory species and will facilitate communication and cooperation towards achieving the two organizations’ shared goals.

The Born Free Foundation was formed in 1984 under the name Zoo Check Campaign by the actors Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, the stars of Born Free, the 1966 film adaptation of the life of Joy and George Adams and the lioness Elsa, which they raised in Kenya.  The Born Free Foundation now combines the Zoo Check Campaign and a number of animal conservation and welfare initiatives.
