This side event seeks to reflect on how environmental litigation can function as an instrument for challenging the prevailing anthropocentric paradigm, introducing into legal practice more protective epistemologies capable of recognizing the intrinsic value of the
elements that constitute the environment, such as the theory of harmony with nature.
The proposal, therefore, is to foster a debate on ways of articulating theory and practice in favor of environmental protection and, in particular, the protection of migratory species in Brazil. In this context, the aim is to examine the potential of strategic litigation to expand legal interpretations toward a more ecological understanding of law, one that incorporates the interdependence between human beings and nature and strengthens the protection of ecosystems. By bringing together different perspectives, the side event seeks to contribute to the development of more integrated legal responses that are sensitive to contemporary ecological complexity.
