The health of the environment is increasingly recognised as a critical component of global biodiversity, ecosystem stability, and human well-being. Migratory species traverse vast geographic ranges, connecting ecosystems and acting as sentinels for environmental change and disease emergence. However, they face mounting threats from infectious diseases, environmental pollution, habitat loss, and climate change. The health of migratory species is not just important for their conservation status and ecosystem resilience, but also for the health of people and livestock, and must be considered equitably in One Health approaches. The Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) has made wildlife health a cross-cutting conservation priority, as reflected in recent Resolutions and the establishment of the CMS Working Group on Migratory Species and Health. The upcoming 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) will consider these issues, with Parties set to discuss new guidance and collaborative actions.
