Decisions 13.16 to 13.19 - Application of Article III of the Convention Regarding International Trade in Appendix I-listed Species

13.16
The Secretariat shall, subject to the availability of resources: a) in collaboration with the CITES Secretariat, develop a list of species included in Appendix I, annotated as to whether they are also on the CITES Appendices, and if so, on which CITES Appendix they are listed. This list should take into account possible differences in nomenclature used in the two Conventions; b) publish this list on the CMS website, and revise it as necessary.
13.17
The Secretariat shall, subject to the availability of resources, with the support of the Scientific Council and within the scope of the Conservation Status Report (Decision 13.24): a) develop criteria, in collaboration with the CITES Secretariat, to determine the scope and feasibility of assessing the impact of international trade in Appendix I species on their conservation status; and b) based on these criteria, assess the impact of international trade on the conservation status of relevant Appendix I species, including but not limited to, international trade regulated by CITES.
13.18
The Secretariat shall report to the Conference of the Parties at its 14th meeting and provide any appropriate recommendations for Parties to consider.
13.19
Parties are requested to: a) share information referred to in Decision 13.16 with their respective CITES Management and Scientific Authorities to facilitate discussion on any particular species issues, as required; b) inform the Secretariat, within the National Legislation Programme, about any need for support with the review and/or the development of legislation regarding the implementation of Article III.
