2023/032: Call for Financial Support for CMS COP14

The Secretariat is pleased to inform you that, in collaboration with the Government of Uzbekistan, the necessary preparations for the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14) are well under way.

Following Notification 2022/025 and Notification 2023/010, the Secretariat is seeking funding to (i) produce COP-related communication materials, and (ii) cover the costs related to the participation of one representative at COP14 for those countries eligible for financial support.

According to the provisions of Resolution 13.2, an estimated €300,000 is required. So far, the Governments of Uzbekistan, Switzerland, Finland and the Netherlands have generously contributed a combined sum of €100,000; however, this still leaves a shortfall of two thirds of the required amount.

This amount supporting the preparation of COP14-related promotional activities and communication materials such as professional audio-visual and written material, as well as enhancement of the website and the COP newsroom now amounts to €45,000 following the contribution from the Government of the Netherlands.

The Secretariat therefore invites Parties to explore opportunities to allocate resources to support full attendance and geographical representation at COP14 and the subsequent dissemination of its outcomes. Partner organizations are also encouraged to consider covering any shortfalls.
