The Secretariat is pleased to inform you that the necessary preparations for the Fourteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14), and associated logistical arrangements are advancing in collaboration with the Government of Uzbekistan.

Further developments include the creation of a webpage (www.cms.int/en/meeting/fourteenth-meeting-conference-parties-cms), the launch of the online registration and the issuance of guidance for the letter of credentials and on the drafting of Resolutions, Decisions, Species proposals and Concerted Actions (Notification 2023/004).

Additional information on the COP and its associated events will be made available shortly.

In accordance with Notification 2022/025, the Secretariat is seeking (i) funding to undertake a few outstanding activities of the Programme of Work that would produce substantive inputs for the COP, (ii) support to produce COP-related communications materials and (iii) the necessary budget to cover costs related to the participation of one representative at COP14 for those countries eligible for financial support.

According to the provisions of Resolution 13.2 on the eligibility for financial assistance of delegates to attend the COP, it has been estimated that a minimum of €300,000 is required.

These needs are included in the Annex to the present Notification.

With a view to ensure the preparation of substantive inputs as well as the maximum attendance and geographical representation at COP14 and dissemination of its outcomes, the Secretariat therefore invites Parties to explore any opportunity to allocate resources to support the organization of COP14 and priority actions under the POW. Partner organizations are also encouraged to consider covering any shortfalls.
