Migratory species are on the front line of climate change, facing degraded habitats, altered migratory routes, and disrupted food webs. Yet these species also play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems and supporting natural carbon capture and storage. This high-level side event will bring together government leaders, NGOs, and intergovernmental organisations to explore the impacts of climate change on migratory species and the opportunities to harness their conservation as a climate solution. Through compelling case studies and expert discussion, the panel will identify practical actions CMS Parties can take to strengthen the resilience of migratory species to climate change, integrate migratory species into global climate strategies and build stronger synergies with other international frameworks.
