2025/16: Range State Consultation on the Development of a Singles Species Action Plan for the Tope Shark in the Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean
The Government of the Netherlands, in its expert capacity, is in the process of developing a Single Species Action Plan (SSAP) for the Tope Shark (Galeorhinus galeus) to be presented at COP15.
As part of this effort, a first draft has been prepared and is available for review at: Draft SSAP Tope Shark vMay2025 for Range States.docx
To facilitate a discussion among Range States, with a view to develop a consensus document, the government has invited Focal Points of Range States from the Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean region to an online meeting on 28 May 2025.
A second online meeting to finalize the SSAP will take place on 2 July 2025.
Range States are strongly encouraged to participate in these meetings to ensure their perspectives are considered in shaping the final action plan and to contribute to an inclusive and participatory process.
In addition, the government of the Netherlands invites Range States to submit written comments on the draft SSAP by 27 May 2025. These comments will be incorporated into the revised version, which will be discussed at the second meeting. Written submissions should be sent via email to:
