2017/017: New Signatories and Cooperating Partners for CMS MOUs on Raptors and Sharks

The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) in its capacity as Depositary of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia(Raptors MOU) and of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Sharks (Sharks MOU) is pleased to inform you that:

·        Burkina Faso signed the Raptors MOU becoming the 58th Signatory.

·        Benin, Brazil, Ecuador and Sri Lanka signed the Sharks MOU bringing the number of Signatories to 46.

·        The World Wide Fund For Nature International (WWF) became the tenth cooperating partner of the Sharks MOU while The Peregrine Fund became the fifth cooperating partner of the Raptors MOU.

The signing ceremonies were held on 23 and 24 October 2017 in the margins of the 12th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
