At the second Jaguar Range States meeting in Mexico City in 2025, the States finalized and adopted a new Regional Action Plan (RAP) for Jaguar Conservation. At COP15, CMS Parties will consider amendments to Resolution 14.14 on Jaguar and Draft Decisions focusing on activities in line with the CMS mandate, and calling for strengthened cooperation amongst all jaguar range States to implement the RAP.
This event will demonstrate how coordinated planning across borders and institutions can strengthen conservation outcomes for wide-ranging species such as the jaguar, particularly in landscapes facing accelerating habitat loss, infrastructure and agricultural expansion, human–wildlife conflict, and illegal killing and trade. By identifying complementarities between national and regional plans, the session will showcase pathways for harmonized implementation, shared indicators, and joint monitoring of conservation progress.
By bringing together governments, multilateral conventions, and conservation organizations, this side event aims to reinforce a shared regional vision for jaguar conservation, promote strategic coherence among initiatives, and support effective implementation that contributes to long-term species viability and ecosystem integrity.
