Across the region governments, financial institutions, civil society and others, are translating the CMS Americas Flyways Framework into concrete national policies and collaborative action for migratory bird conservation. The event will highlight how coordinated implementation, regional cooperation, and multi-stakeholder partnerships are essential for delivering CMS commitments across the Americas, with a particular focus on how we can further scale up government leadership of the Americas Flyways Framework going forward.

The event will be moderated by BirdLife International, followed by an over-arching introduction to the Americas Flyways Framework by the CMS Scientific Counsellor for Birds. The Government of Panama will then present how the Framework has shaped national policies and strengthened cooperation with other countries to conserve migratory birds across the flyways. This will be followed by SAVE Brasil, which will highlight how NGOs provide technical, policy, and capacity strengthening, support to governments to deliver CMS commitments, and by Aves y Conservación (Ecuador), which will share concrete examples of joint NGO-government work translating commitments into on-the-ground conservation outcomes. The session will conclude with a keynote intervention from the Government of Brazil, as host country, summarizing the key messages, highlighting the importance of political leadership and formal cooperation mechanisms for strengthened and coordinated implementation of the Americas Flyways Framework across the region.
