The side event will describe the growing global trade in fish maw and its devastating impact on target species of migratory fish and on CMS-listed marine mammals, sharks, rays and marine turtles that are bycaught in maw fisheries. It will discuss actions that CMS and its parties can take to better understand and mitigate the impacts of maw fisheries, including in conjunction with CITES and the IWC.
