Ongoing Core Activities
- Monitoring and Research: Countries are collaborating to gather comprehensive data on species distribution, population counts, abundance, and the conservation status of grassland biodiversity, including birds, frogs, butterflies, and other insects.
- Bird Ringing Program: An international bird ringing programme is being implemented, where small, individually numbered tags are attached to the birds’ legs to track their movements and identify threats along their flyways.
- Impact Studies: Studies is being conducted to assess the effects of chemicals and fertilizers on bird populations and overall grassland ecosystems.
- Capacity Building: Training courses on best practices and tailored conservation are being implemented to target educators, journalists, producers and rural associations to enhance knowledge and encourage sustainable conservation practices.
