A Guide for Attaching Research devices to Vultures and Condors

Description:

Tracking vultures and condors using Platform Transmitter Terminal (PTTs), GPS-PTTs and GPS-GSM tags, contributes both to basic and applied research and conservation. This guide is the result of a three-day "Global Workshop on Methods for Attaching Tracking Devices to Vultures and Condors" held at the International Centre for Birds of Prey, in Newent, United Kingdom, in August 2019. Experts from around the world demonstrated their materials and methods by deploying real and dummy tags on real vultures. This guide includes step-by-step methods of how to prepare and attach harnesses, as well as a set of recommendations on how to handle and monitor birds during the deployment of such devices.
