The Third Regional Seminar on the Conservation and Restoration of Sahelo-Saharan Megafauna (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Meeting’) of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) will be held from 14 to 16 March 2023 in Agadir, Morocco.

The Meeting aims to adopt an updated action plan for the conservation of Sahelo-Saharan megafauna and its habitats as mandated by CMS COP13 through Concerted Action 13.4 on Sahelo-Saharan Megafauna. Furthermore, the meeting will provide an opportunity to take stock of ongoing work related to Sahelo-Saharan Megafauna, consider the extension of the Concerted Action to other species and biomes, consider sustainable funding sources for the implementation of the Roadmap and explore the advantages and disadvantages of establishing a structured initiative along the lines of the CMS Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI).

The Meeting is organized by the CMS Secretariat, hosted by the Government of Morocco and generously funded by the Government of Germany.

Participation in the meeting is upon invitation by the CMS Secretariat.
