The CMS Secretariat, together with the Government of Brazil in conjunction with the National Center for Bird Conservation and Research – CEMAVE of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation - ICMBio, as MOU Coordinator, organized a virtual Meeting of the Signatories of the CMS MOU on the Conservation of Southern South American Migratory Grassland Bird Species and Their Habitats. The meeting took place online from Tuesday 1st of September to Friday 4th 2020.

This meeting was addressed to all MOU Signatory countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Urugay, as well as to observers working in Grassland bird conservation in the region.

 

Goal of the Meeting

1.To assess the Action Plan Implentation degree

2.To discuss steps to achieve the Action Plan’s goals

 

Background

This virtual meeting follows on the outcomes of the two previous MOU meetings celebrated in Asunción, Paraguay in 2010 and in Florianopolis, Brazil in 2018. Detailed information about these meetings can be found the MOU main web page.

Key Meeting Outcome

1.Implementation Gaps and Threats: Members identified gaps and threats to species and habitats under the MoU. 

2.Implentation Progress: National Focal Points filled in monitoring spreed sheets to assess the implementation progress.
