The Energy Task Force has held yearly meetings since 2016. At its The Energy Task Force has held yearly meetings since 2016. At its Sixth meeting held from 9 to 10 February 2022, the ETF reviewed progress against the ETF workplan 2021-2024, new technical guidance and best practice from across the ETF network, and options to strengthen industry cooperation. Other recent interim meetings have been held on 24 October 2022, 7 December 2022, 21 February 2023, and 25 October 2023. 

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of Spain has kindly extended an invitation to host the Seventh Meeting ETF in Madrid, Spain. The event is scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 April 2024.

Objectives of the meeting  

The main objectives of the ETF7 meeting are: 

• Assess progress made regarding the implementation of the ETF workplan,  
• Agree on priorities and discuss next steps of the ETF, 
• Share recent developments and key activities by members and observers within the ETF, 
• Share updates from the ETF Working Groups, consisting of the Technical Working Group (TWG), Powerlines Working Group (PWG), and the Raptors MOU Electrocution Discussion Group,  
• Elect a new Chair and Vice Chair for the ETF. 

Background  

The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) recognise the need to integrate the conservation of migratory species across the energy sector and have adopted a number of resolutions and guidelines to this end. The CMS Energy Task Force was established in 2015 in accordance with Resolution 11.27 (Rev. COP13) Renewable Energy and Migratory Species to support the implementation of these resolutions and the use of relevant guidelines.
