Bonn, 29 March 2016 – the website for the 2016 World Migratory Bird Day is now online and organizers are invited to register their events.
The design of this year’s poster (see below) has also been finalized and print copies will be available along with other promotional materials such as postcards and stickers.
And don’t forget – entries for this year’s video trailer competition have to be submitted to the Secretariat by 11:59 pm (German time – GMT + 1:00) on Sunday, 3 April. More details about the competition for which three cash prizes are to be awarded can be found here.
The theme for this year’s campaign is: ”Stop the illegal killing, taking and trade of migratory birds!” and the slogan is “…and when the skies fall silent?”
Initiated in 2006 by the Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), World Migratory Bird Day is an annual, global awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats.
Each year people and dedicated organizations around the world take action and organize hundreds of public events such as bird festivals, education programmes, exhibitions and bird-watching events to raise-awareness and to mark the international day.
