United Arab Emirates Joins Convention on Migratory Species - Reaffirms Strong Commitment to International Raptor and Dugong Conservation

The Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) and Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) committed themselves to advancing their cooperation to conserve migratory species of wild animals, by the UAE’s recent accession to CMS as its 123rd member state, and the extension of the long-standing financial and in-kind support of CMS Office - Abu Dhabi by EAD on behalf of the Government of the UAE.

CMS and ACBK raise awareness on migratory mammals at the mining forum “Minex Central Asia” in Astana

The 7th mining forum "MINEX Central Asia – 2016" was hosted in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana on 19-21 April 2016. For the first time the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), represented by Kazakhstan’s largest nature conservation NGO, the Association for the Conservation of the Biodiversity of Kazakhstan (ACBK), participated in a major event organized by the mining industry.

Man-made Obstacles Cause Mongolian Gazelle Mass Die-off

More than 5,300 Mongolian gazelles died last winter along the Trans-Mongolian Railway in Mongolia.
