World Migratory Bird Day 2016 - 10 May

Bonn, 3 February 2016 - The Secretariats of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) are pleased to announce that the designated date for World Migratory Bird Day 2016 will be Tuesday, 10 May 2016. This year’s theme is the illegal killing, taking and trade of migratory birds. More details about the theme can be found here. You will be able to register your events on the World Migratory Bird Day website shortly (the website is currently under construction).

Again this year, a competition is being held for the official World Migratory Bird Day trailer. The deadline for receipt of entries is 14 March and more details about the competition are also available - general information, the terms and conditions and an entry form.

World Migratory Bird Day is an annual, global awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. Each year people and dedicated organizations around the world take action and organize hundreds of public events such as bird festivals, education programmes, exhibitions and bird-watching events to raise-awareness and to mark the international day.
