US exceptions to ivory prohibition allow some musical instruments and art

Regulatory agency permits 'common-sense adjustments' for art items that can be proven to predate 1976 elephant protection.

The US government on Thursday took steps to allow limited exceptions to its broad prohibition on the commercial trade in elephant ivory, exempting certain older musical instruments with ivory components as well as ivory in museum and art exhibitions.
