Third Meeting of the Sessional Committee of the Scientific Council Taking Place in Bonn

Bonn, 28 May 2018 – The third meeting of the Sessional Committee of the CMS Scientific Council is taking place in Bonn this week (29 May-1 June), its first gathering since last year’s Conference of the Parties in Manila.

The Sessional Committee will consider strategic and institutional matters such as the Scientific Council’s rules of procedure, the subject areas of the COP-appointees, will review the implementation of its Programme of Work for 2016-2017 and develop the one for the triennium 2018-2020.  It will also consider Concerted Actions and hear reports on activities relating to avian, aquatic and terrestrial species.  The date and venue of the Fourth Meeting will also be discussed, taking into account that COP13 might take place in early 2020.

The Sessional Committee is made up of fifteen regional Councillors (three from each of the five CMS regions) plus the COP-appointed members with expertise in taxonomic and thematic issues, as provided for in Resolution 12.4.

The agenda and documents for the four-day meeting are available on the dedicated Scientific Council pages of the CMS website.
