The CMS Secretariat - Coordinating Unit of the Raptors MOU is pleased to invite submissions of information related to the implementation of CMS Decisions 14.148 to 14.151 concerning the conservation of African-Eurasian Vultures.
- Decision 14.148 encourages Parties, non-Party Range States and relevant stakeholders to carry out activities supporting the conservation of African-Eurasian Vultures and the implementation of the Vulture Multi-species Action Plan (Vulture MsAP).
- Decision 14.149 invites Parties, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisation to submit information to the Secretariat on activities undertaken in support of the Vulture MsAP ahead of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15).
- Decisions 14.150 urges West African Parties and Range States for the White-backed vulture (Gyps africanus), Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), Rüppell’s vulture (Gyps rueppelli), Hooded vulture (Necrosyrtes monachus), Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), Lappet-faced vulture (Torgos tracheliotos), and White headed vulture (Trigonoceps occipitalis), including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo, to implement relevant conservation measures for vultures, particularly those listed in CMS Appendix I and report on their implementation to the Secretariat prior to COP15.
- Decision 14.151 encourages West African Range States and relevant intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations to support implementation of the West Africa Vulture Conservation Action Plan, endorsed by the Standing Committee in its 56th meeting in March 2025 following consultation with the Scientific Council, as per Decisions 14.152 a 14.153.
To facilitate effective analysis, CMS Parties and Raptors MOU Signatories are kindly requested to complete the attached questionnaire and submit responses by 31 July 2025.
This information will support the Secretariat work under Decision 14.156, which mandates a review of implementation progress and reporting to the Parties at COP15.
