With reference to Decision 14.230 a)[1], the Secretariat herewith requests Parties to submit information on actions taken in line with Decisions 14.227 (a) to (c) for transmission to the Scientific Council and its Expert Working Group on Animal Culture and Social Complexity.
Decision 14.227 (a) to (c)
Parties are requested to:
a) support actions and research, including of Concerted Actions, that investigate the conservation implications of animal culture and social learning for a diverse range of taxa, including fish and reptiles;
b) apply a precautionary approach by considering cultural processes as relevant for the conservation of all species for which there is evidence for social learning;
c) where specific cultural groups have been identified, give specific attention to threats (including human-wildlife conflict) and good practices that might be specific to this particular cultural unit;
Submissions are requested by 15 March 2025.
Your responses will inform the work of the Expert Working Group on the Conservation Implications of Animal Culture and Social Complexity as mandated in Decision 14.229, specifically in view of preparations for the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CMS (COP15) to take place in 2026.
