The 52^nd Meeting of the Standing Committee of the CMS (StC52) will take place from 21 to 29 September 2021 as an online virtual meeting.

Participation

In addition to all Standing Committee members and their alternates, other Parties and observers may attend the meeting. In accordance with the rules of procedure, any Party or observer admitted to the COP immediately preceding the meeting of the Committee, after advising the Secretariat of their intention to attend, can observe a meeting of the Committee.

Anybody or agency that is not a member of the Committee and wishes to observe a meeting shall submit a request to the Secretariat no later than 22 August 2021. Completing the CMS registration form shall serve as a request to participate.

Registration

You are kindly requested to confirm your intention to participate in the meeting by completing the online registration form at your earliest convenience. Registration to the meeting will close on 17 September 2021, in order to ensure access to the online platform.

Agenda and documents

The Provisional Agenda, meeting schedule  and other documents for StC52 will be made available in due course on the StC 52 page of the CMS website.

In accordance with the rules of procedure, the deadline for submitting reports and documents to the Secretariat for the consideration of the StC52 is 23 July 2021.

Organization of work and provisional schedule

• Opening plenary sessions: 21 and 22 of September 2021 (12:30 – 15:30 CEST)

The opening plenary sessions will be held in the Interactio platform. Simultaneous English, French, and Spanish interpretation will be provided through in-kind support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.

• Contact Groups, Working Groups, and informal discussions: 23 to 27 September 2021

Contact Groups and/or Working Groups in Microsoft Teams will complement the plenary sessions if needed.  The Contact Groups and/or Working Groups will take place in English.

• Closing plenary sessions 28 and 29 of September 2021 (12:30 – 15:30 CEST).

The closing plenary sessions will be held in Interactio, Simultaneous English, French, and Spanish interpretation will also be provided with support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.
