The Dugong, Seagrass and Coastal Communities Initiative encompasses complementary activities to support the conservation of dugongs and their seagrass habitats throughout the over 40 Range States.

The initiative is coordinated by the Secretariat of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU) and is designed to achieve the nine objectives of the Dugong MoU Conservation and Management Plan (CMP) which address conservation of dugongs and their seagrass habitats, awareness and education, and cross-cutting issues.
