Action Plan and MTIWP
The saiga antelope Action Plan provides the formal targets for conservation action under the Saiga Antelope MoU. The document was first developed in 2002 at a preparatory meeting in Elista, Russian Federation. It was adopted and came into force in 2006.
The primary road map for conservation action under the saiga MoU is the Medium-Term International Work Programme (MTIWP), which is regularly updated. It is this work programme which is used to implement the MoU and to review progress. The Meetings of the Signatories to the Saiga MoU, which took place in 2006 and 2010, adopted the MTIWP. This work programme is intented to reflect the highest priorities for action for a period of five years in order to support the Action Plan’s implementation.
