Madagascar Signs Sharks MOU

Bonn, 15 November 2017– at a ceremony held in the margins of the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Dr Johanita Benedicte Ndahimananjara, Minister of the Environment, Ecology and Forests of Madagascar signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Sharks.

Situated in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa, Madagascar is an important Range State for many shark species listed under CMS and on the Annex of the MOU.  Therefore, we are particularly pleased to welcome Madagascar on board.

Madagascar’s signature brings the total number of State Signatories to the MOU to 47.  Madagascar acceded to the parent Convention in 2007.
