Abu
Dhabi,19 September 2012 - New York University Abu
Dhabi (NYUAD) invited the UNEP/CMS Office - Abu Dhabi to
participate in the annual NYUAD Opportunities Fair. NYUAD
is the first comprehensive liberal arts and science campus
in the Middle East to be operated abroad by a major American
research university. According to their website,
NYUAD is “a world-class center of cutting-edge research,
scholarship, and cultural activity” that draws students
and research professionals from around the world.
The UNEP/CMS Office - Abu Dhabi exhibited alongside approximately
20 other international organizations and companies such
as McKinsley, American Chamber of Commerce, Good Harbour
and Hill+Knowlton Strategies. Team Associates Mariam Yacout
and Dragana Stojkovic informed the visitors about CMS and
the Abu Dhabi Office’s activities in relation to the
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of Dugongs and their Habitats
and the MOU on Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa in Eurasia.
At the Office stand, visitors were able to pick up information
material regarding current projects, as well as to learn
about the future internship opportunities.
At the moment, UNEP/CMS Office - Abu Dhabi has two NYUAD
students – Benjamin Jance and Alf Lim – doing
a work experience placement. The Office is in the process
of establishing a few highly important international and
regional projects – therefore we envisage having a
range of options including work placement, internship and
volunteering in the future.
