Bonn, 9 March 2009 - CMS Deputy Executive Secretary Lahcen El Kabiri joined the celebrations of Bulgaria's Embassy in Bonn, which took place at the Haus der Geschichte (Museum of History). The celebration marked the Bulgarian National Day and took place this year with a focus on Bulgaria's relationship with the United Nations and its numerous branches and organisations. It further emphasised the fruitful cooperation with the city of Bonn and its development into an important international congress venue.

Mr. El Kabiri was honoured to accept two jubilee medals on behalf of CMS and ASCOBANS. The medals were produced on the occasion of the United Nations’ 60th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the UN. The evening was rounded off by a performance of Bulgarian pianist Pantscho Vladiguerov Jr., who regaled the guests with a selection of classical music.
