After
having established a fruitful cooperation with the private
sector through its Germany-based fundraising body Friends
of CMS, CMS has now outlined mutual benefits of linking
business and biodiversity conservation.
A healthy environment is the essential foundation for
a thriving economy, stable society and sustainable future.
Without the ecosystem services (e.g. water cycling) offered
by a healthy environment, no economic activity is possible.
Companies can show their commitment to biodiversity by
assisting CMS in carrying out its mandate to conserve
endangered migratory animals.
People are increasingly becoming aware
of the effects of human activities on the climate and
on the world’s wildlife. Animals fall victim to
pollution, deforestation, urban growth and species are
becoming extinct at an alarming rate. Migratory species
play an important economic role in hunting and fishing,
but also in eco-tourism.
Sustainable business approaches can protect businesses
against social, environmental and resource depletion risks.
Key biodiversity opportunities include securing the license
to operate and the supply chain, bolstering stakeholder
relationships, while appealing to ethical consumers and
responsible investors with an interest in sustainable
growth
In its new publication on Business and Biodiversity,
CMS features its work and the reasons for businesses to
become involved with biodiversity conservation.
Biodiversity needs to be safeguarded for future generations.
It’s a race against time and it’s one we can’t
afford to lose.
