The
Millennium Development Goals embody the international community’s
aspirations for a better world, where hunger and poverty are
eradicated, all people enjoy basic primary rights and equity
and health prevail in all countries. This week, in New York,
leaders of the world will review progress towards these goals
and the accompanying targets set for 2015. The five Biodiversity
Conventions (CBD,
CITES,
CMS,
Ramsar,
WHC)
ask them to remember that achieving these targets is founded
in the web of natural life on Planet Earth.
