The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory
Species of Wild Animals (UNEP/CMS Secretariat), based in Bonn,
Germany, is seeking two young university graduates having
completed either their first or second degree with high grades,
and preferably having a few years relevant working experience,
who are motivated and competent to assist with the ongoing
work and implementation of the programme of this intergovernmental
treaty. The recruitment exercise is being conducted under
the Junior Professional Programme administered by the United
Nations Environment Programme.

Skills required:
Post I: Administration: Applicants should have a University
degree in public or business administration, finance or
accounting or a related field. The selected candidate
will assist the Secretariat in the administration and financial
management of projects, and other related concerns.
Post II: Information Management: Applicants should have
a University degree in communications, public relations,
graphic design, computing or a related field; excellent
writing skills; training and ample experience in the use
of software for the design and maintenance of web sites
(HTML, JAVA pdf, etc.). The selected candidate will
assist the Secretariat in the development and maintenance
of the CMS Web site, and the preparation and dissemination
of public information materials.
Preference will be given to candidates with research and/or
practical experience. Ability to work in an international
environment is required; proficiency in written and spoken
English is essential and a good working knowledge of French
is desirable. Working knowledge of other languages
used in the Secretariat (German, Spanish) would be an asset.
Ability to use a computer with standard word-processing
and other software (WordPerfect, Word, PowerPoint, Excel/Quattro
Pro) proficiently is essential.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 31 of May
2001. Successful candidates will enter on duty as
