Bonn,
11 May 2011
- The UNEP/CMS Secretariat, in affiliation
with the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig in
Bonn, has organized the UNEP/CMS Thesis Award 2011. The
application period has recently ended, and more than 60
PhD theses on migratory species have been received.  The
theses focus on the biology of marine and terrestrial mammals,
birds, reptiles, marine and freshwater fish and insects.

Many of the theses are related to the impact of climate change on migratory species; invasive species; grasslands and agriculture; marine ecosystems; and long distance migration.

The top 10 theses will be shortlisted based on the summaries and conservation statements submitted, which will be reviewed by the jury. The ten expert members of the jury will meet at the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn on September 20th to select the winner.

The 2011 Thesis Award, sponsored by Deutsche Lufthansa, will be presented at CMS COP 10, 20-25 November, in Bergen, Norway.
