2017/012: Review of IPBES Global Assessment of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services

The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (UNEP/CMS) would like to draw attention to a call from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to take part in the review of the first order drafts of the chapters of the IPBES global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

The period for this first external review of the global assessment is from 15 June until 15 August 2017.

Details on how to register as an expert reviewer for the global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services can be found here.

Considering the potential importance of these IPBES deliverables for assessing progress towards the achievement of the targets of the Strategic Plan for Migratory Species 2015-2023, the Secretariat would like to encourage CMS Parties, partner organizations and experts to contribute to and facilitate the review, with special attention to issues of interest to the Convention.

As announced in CMS Notification 2017/007, we would also like to remind you that the external reviews of the IPBES assessments for Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe & Central Asia, Land Degradation & Restoration (deadline 26 June 2017), and the assessment for the Americas (deadline 24 July) are still open for comments.
