The UNEP/CMS Southeast Asia Regional Meeting on Dugongs and Workshop on Developing Standardised Analysis Protocols for Dugong Questionnaire Survey Project Data for South East Asia Region, held on 26-29 July 2011, in Lawas, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The main objectives of the meeting and workshop were to discuss, share and analyse research findings and achievements of assessment of dugong distribution, habitat and risk due to fisheries in Southeast Asia Countries using the UNEP/CMS Standardised Dugong Catch/Incidental Catch Survey Tool.
 
Workshop Main Objectives were to:
  • Provide a forum for sharing of information and discussions on research finding on dugong conservation project undertaken in Southeast Asia region
  • Come up with strategic recommendations on dugong distribution, habitats and risk due to fisheries for Southeast Asia region
  • Provide a venue for capacity building on dugong conservation and research
  • Enhance and establish collaboration works on dugong conservation and research programme with renown national, regional and international institutions
